Bishop Dr. Maurice D. Carter established the Crystal Cathedral Ministry in 1994 in Farmville, Virginia, under the leading of the Lord Jesus Christ — with a vision for a church that would reach the lost and broken with dignity, respect, and the truth of the Gospel.
He is the Presiding Bishop of the Virginia Western Diocese of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith, and Founder and Senior Pastor of the Crystal Cathedral Ministry.
An anointed visionary and dynamic leader, he holds a Bachelor's in Science Education, a Master's in Public Administration, and a Doctorate in Education. His career in education has spanned roles as Professor at Southside Community College and Virginia Union University, Dean of Students, High School Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent.
Respected locally and nationally, he is known for his servant's heart, his commitment to mentoring and supporting spiritual leaders, and his dedication to spiritual and academic excellence in equal measure.
